Below you will find more information about the process of working with me from start to finish so you can better understand what to expect from our time together.
How it starts
Preparing for your shoot
Once you’ve decided you would like to have a photo shoot with me, get in touch by filling out the contact form on my website or email me directly at info@brittanytaigen.com
Phone Call
We will organise a time for a phone call to have a quick chat about what you’re wanting from the shoot. We will also discuss the best date and time for you and location options and together decide on a good spot to meet.
Photoshoot
On the day of your photoshoot we will meet at our agreed spot. The shoot will take about an hour and we will just go with the flow together. I have some recommendations below for how to best prepare for your shoot.
Ordering Session
1 week after your photoshoot your photos will be ready to view. We will do an in person ordering session at your home or a local cafe and I will show you the photos and you will get to select which images you want and how you would like them produced. This usually takes about an hour and a half, depending on what you order and what we design together.
Product Delivery
After confirmation of your payment your products will be sent to the local supplier to be fulfilled. If you only order digital images, these will be sent via email within 24 hours. All of the physical products are hand made to order so production times can vary. Albums can take 3-5 weeks once the design is confirmed. If you order a frame or canvas it can take 3-4 weeks and matted prints will take 2-3 weeks to get to your door.

What do we wear?
It is best to keep it simple, of course wear whatever you feel most comfortable in and what expresses you the best. I often recommend keeping it tidy and smart. You can dress formal if that’s what you want or keep it casual. It’s best to not wear bold graphic tees and scruffy shoes or very bright colours, I also recommend staring away from bold patterns too.
What do we bring?
Bring an extra jacket if you feel the cold. Especially if your location is in an exposed area like at Victoria Park as it can get quite windy up there. Sometimes it’s a good idea to bring a little snack or water to keep your energy up. I know it’s only an hour and you’ll be spending a lot of time sitting or moving around slowly, but it does still get a bit tiring. This is especially true if you have kids, so always remember the snacks or treats for bribes! Dogs also need a little bit of tasty encouragement when sitting in front of a camera, so bring along their favourite treats and toys too.
What if the weather’s no good?
I have a 48 hour cancellation policy, if you cancel or need to reschedule then we will do our best to find another time but please do give me 48 hours notice. If the weather’s definitely no good we can reschedule to another time easily. I prefer to wait until closer to the time to see what the weather is actually doing outside before making a call as to whether or not we do need to reschedule but that is a decision we make together. So yes, we will reschedule if the weather’s no good.
Do you have a studio?
No, sorry. My style is very much a natural and casual experience so I only shoot on location. You get to choose the location, so if you have a favourite spot like at the beach, the forest or a local park, we will spend our time there. If you would like to do a shoot at your home we can absolutely do that too. (There is a $40 travel fee for locations outside of the 10km radius from the central city)
What are the location options?
You can choose a spot anywhere within a 10km radius of central Christchurch. Locations outside of this radius will incur a $40 travel fee. Some of the most popular locations are Christchurch Botanical Gardens, Hagley Park, Victoria Park, Mount Pleasant, Bottle Lake Forest, The Groynes, and any beach spot from the pines all the way to sumner beach. We can also go to your local park or your home.
